Initial IFSP Checklist for Families: Special Considerations

This checklist helps your family navigate the planning process with a focus on language, communication, and your child's whole development. Use it to shape the special considerations in your IFSP, or Individualized Family Service Plan, the birth-to-three early intervention plan. It helps you make sure the plan describes every language your child is around, asks that ASL and spoken language be assessed separately and fairly, and pushes for goals that include culture and identity. It also helps you confirm services include Deaf professionals and role models, and connects your family to mentors, ASL classes, and the Deaf community.
