Classroom Environment Overview Tip Sheet

Use this tip sheet to understand what makes a classroom work for deaf and hard of hearing students. It explains that the room itself is a teaching tool, and it walks through five parts: visual access so students can see everything they need; ASL and English both shown as full languages; Deaf culture woven into daily learning; a library rich with Deaf authors and characters; and a climate where students feel safe and included. Use it as a starting point before setting up your room or reflecting on it with your team.
