Center-Based Environment Administrator Checklist

Center-based services are early intervention playgroups where Deaf and hard of hearing babies, toddlers, and their families gather to learn and connect. Administrators use this checklist to build the systems behind a strong playgroup. It covers meeting Part C early intervention rules and EHDI guidelines (Early Hearing Detection and Intervention, the system that identifies and supports children early), supporting well-prepared staff, and designing rooms with clear sightlines and good lighting for visual language. It also prompts you to stock ASL and spoken-language materials and to build real family engagement and Deaf-adult role models into the program.
